Cyrano de Bergerac, The Other World - this new translation by Donald Webb is intended to make Cyrano's novel Internet-accessible to the general public in modern English. Cyberpunk's one-page propaganda organ, Cheap Truth, was given away free to anyone who asked for it. Typical “dark futures” are shown in the cyberpunk subgenre of science fiction. The popular Mad Max film series made speculation about a post-apocalyptic (typically, post-nuclear holocaust) world widespread.

Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? —is set in 2019 in a dystopian future in which manufactured beings called replicants are slaves used on space colonies and are legal prey on Earth to various bounty hunters who "retire" (kill) them. Again this is when Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein should be mentioned. It’s intended as a vast compliment, to a visionary beyond period expectations, but sometimes it comes with an asterisk and footnote of under appreciation.

Kay, Alan C. “A Personal Computer for Children of All Ages.” ACM ’72 Proceedings of the ACM Annual Conference – Volume 1. Both are set in the near future, in a world where cybernetics are prominent. Many musicians have also taken inspiration from specific cyberpunk works or authors, including Sonic Youth, whose albums Sister and Daydream Nation take influence from the works of Phillip K. To take a simple and familiar example, the Borg on Star Trek: The Next Generation, represented the insertion of a cyberpunk body-machine hybrid into the middle of our culture’s longest running technological utopian fiction, just to see how they would react to each other.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED, that allmusic doesn't have Suicide listed as a direct influence. This is definately my least favorite part of the story. Separating science fiction into genres can be important because there are plenty of fans who prefer one genre of science fiction more than the others.
